David Remnick has an interesting take on Barack Obama’s political ascension. Here he details the president’s congressional loss to Bobby Rush in Illinois– and posits that Obama’s blackness was a major contributing factor in the loss. Pretty fascinating take. Barack Obama seemed to exist in a narrow prism, seemingly unaccepted by both the black and white community. To me, that is part of his broad appeal. More on this tomorrow.
