
Just doing some research on a few things, and I came across this interesting factoid– Congressional voting breakdown on quite possibly the most ground-breaking legislation ever passed– the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Here’s the info on who voted and how:
165 Republicans (From the House and Senate) from 39 other states that don’t comprise the South voted for it.
0 Republicans from the South (11 states)
40 Republicans voted no.
198 Democrats voted yes
112 Democrats voted no
