Update: Supreme Court rules

June 29th, 2009 · No Comments · News, Politics

UPDATE: Not a liability, so says The Washington Post.

By a vote of 5-4, the United States Supreme Court has reversed a ruling by the federal court of appeals in the discrimination case of Ricci vs the City of New Haven, Connecticut.  Sonya Sotomayor was  part of the three judge appeals panel that rendered the initial opinion. Will this affect the outcome of her supreme court confirmation hearings?  I highly doubt it.  The 5-4 split on the court indicates that four justices agreed with her opinion.  That doesn’t strike me as Sotomayor having an ideology far out of line with mainstream thinking.  What do you think?

What will this do for her SCOTUS chances?
