Via Ramona’s Voices:
The city of Gainesville has denied Dove World Outreach Center’s application for a burn permit to set fire to copies of the Quran on Sept. 11, but the church plans to burn the holy books anyway.
The Gainesville Sun, 8/18/10
These good Christian folks won’t let the authorities run them afoul of doing what’s right. Their hate must be satiated. Their vengeance must be meted out. Their ignorance must be displayed for all of the world to see. And it will.

I really like your blog. Very good posts! Please continue posting such awesome cnotent.
Appreciate it!
Sure it might be distasteful to burn a Koran, but did it ever occur to you that such an act would be protected by a little thing called the 1st Amendment?
Liberals get their panties all in a bunch when conservatives try to pass laws regulating pornography and cite the 1st Amendment. But when an ultra-right-wing group decides it wants to burn some Korans the Left is outraged.
Guess what, the 1st Amendment gives me the right to hate anyone I want to hate. And if a group decides they hate Islam and they want to burn Koran’s in protest of that religion, that is their Constitutional right.
Now, of course, a city has a right to regulate bon fires within city limits. And if Gainesville has denied their permit on legitimate grounds and not on grounds that it is offensive, then the city has the right to do so.
Of course the church can continue with burning the Koran’s so long as it is done in a way that does not violate city code. For example, if someone has a fireplace in their home the books could be burnt in the fireplace and it would not violate the city bonfire code. Or, depending on the city law, someone could have an outdoor firepit that would not be considered a “bonfire” and the burning could take place there.
I know it offends you that this group would want to burn Korans, but I’m sure this group would be offended at many of the things you have posted on your blog. And fortunately, for both of you, it is your 1st Amendment right to offend one another.
Very sound logic. So you agree with the burning of the Quran then? And you’re hiding behind the first amendment is that right? Is that what we’ve come to now? You would be the first person bitching and moaning if Muslim-Americans were burning bibles here and you know it. Your hypocrisy is stunning. You’ve just proven how intolerant you are sir.
