Massachusetts… The Morning After

January 20th, 2010 · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

Congratulations to Massachusetts State Senator Scott Brown, for winning the special senate election in Massachusetts. The seat was held by Edward Kennedy for almost 50 years before his passing last year. The win for the GOP complicates Democrats attempts at not only passing health care reform, but other policy issues as well. Is this a referendum on President Obama’s agenda? Or is it just the electorate waking up to the possibility that politicians assume compliance, and deny accountability? I think it’s a little of both.

The president would be wise to press on. But he also must know that a new strategy needs to be employed. One that seeks to regain the public’s trust in him again. Won’t be easy. Welcome to the bully pulpit.
I’ll have more on the election results, and the indirect causes and effects in a later post.

For now, to the victors, go the spoils.

Dude, did you hear that Coakley thought Curt Shilling was a Yankee fan? Uh, do you know which state you’d be representing? Or rather, which Nation? It’s like that George Bush (the elder) deal where he marveled at scanners. Shows you’re out of touch.

Then, for the last couple of weeks when Brown really took off, the press was covered all the back room dealings and vote for sale stories. Not so much about the Pres., but most definitely the Congress. Obama might be about a fresh perspective and change, but the deal making is business as usual.

And one final thought, while it’s regarded as a democratic stronghold due to to iconic Kennedys, they did elect Romney. There is a significant Red vote there.

She could not have been a worse candidate if she tried. It was pathetic. How the hell do you not know that about Curt Schilling? I guess that sums her up pretty nicely.
